Sabi Sands Game Reserve South Africa

This photo was one of the most spectacular and moving moments in all my safaris. This young mother was very relaxed with her children. My guide knew their hiding place. If the mother shows no stress, then the babies will also be relaxed. We would go to visit them in the morning, but the mother had often gone out hunting, and the cubs remained hidden. After a few unsuccessful visits, we arrived before sunset, at snack time. It’s at times like these that you understand in retrospect why, as children, we were so attached to our cuddly lions or stuffed leopards. Our earlier fascination and emotion are reborn, in a totally authentic way.
